Feed a Cold, Shoot a Fever

What do you do when your son spikes a 103 fever? First, you take him to the pediatrician. Then, once the doc says he's negative for strep and the flu and to treat his symptoms, you bring him home, dose the Bubblegum Blast Jr. Tylenol Meltaways, put a cold towel on his head and grab the camera.

Justin: 180 Mute Grab

DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME [I'm talking about the lie-in-front-of-an-eight-foot-high-quarter-pipe part]. Between Justin's launches, I almost ate a skateboard. To appreciate just how high Justin is, clicky on the pics.

Goofy Foot

My son loves to skateboard. And, since I am a better photographer than skateboarder, he rides and I shoot.

I Heart Heart-Shaped Cookies

This cookie looked so yummy I decided to take a bite before I shot it. It tastes as good as it looks [and my mouth is really not that pointy]. Happy Valentine's Day.

Perpetual Calendar...cont'd

Photographing this perpetual calendar is turning into a perpetual project.

Seven Letter Word

Just for fun, I took all my blog posts from January and created a Wordle with them. Wordle generates a visualization of the source text, and greater prominence is given to words that appear more frequently. I sure am glad "Christy" is nice and big [and just right there I got my own back when it comes time for my next Wordle].

Hi-Ya!

Christy never has to ask me twice to shoot one of her sugary creations—like these karate cupcakes for our nephew's birthday—because there's always a sweet reward when I'm done. So, you can imagine my tummy's disappointment when Christy told me that she had baked the exact number of cupcakes needed for today's party.

Snow Day?

Though officially a snow day, by mid-afternoon barely one quarter of the four inches of snow forecasted had fallen [I need to get back into the weather prognosticating business]. That didn't stop the kids from dragging their sleds across the blacktop to the nearest hill in our neighborhood. Sadly, the lack of snow meant the kids only made it a few feet down the hill at a time.

Old Dog, New Tricks

My Dad, driving his new car and acting more like a twenty-something than the sixty-something he is. There are some advantages to a strong family resemblance—I know exactly what I'll look like when I grow up. Zoom-Zoom, Dad.

Perpetual Calendar

I've started shooting a personal project and have quickly realized just how out of practice I am at shooting inanimate objects [and how much more fun animate ones are]. This project also marks the start of my transition from Apple's Aperture to Adobe's Lightroom—so far, me likey. Only 39 more images to go.

A Nine Year Old's Perspective

My daughter was glued to the television today taking copious notes—my son not so much—that she then transformed into this graphical [and historical] timeline. Today certainly called for an extra big exclamation point!

As If I Need Another Reason

The iPhone + the Flashlight app make a rad portable light table! My Mom came across a box of color slides I shot more than 20 years ago. Back when you waited a week to see if what you shot came out or not. I'm surprised how many came out [and how many I took of my first car].

Gallery-Wrapped Awesomeness

You may remember Noah, Kolton and Landon from a holiday mini-session in November. The detail on these 16 x 24 inch gallery-wrapped canvas prints is nothing short of awesome—even my reflection in Landon's eye is still easily recognizable—and the trio looks amazing against the orange walls of my client's home office [click on any blog image to see a larger version].

Looks. Brains. And She Bakes.

Not only do these cookies look good, they taste good! I cannot tell a lie, Christy. I ate one of them as soon as I was done shooting. There's a party going on in my tummy right now.

ROFL

My daughter and I share the same quirky sense of humor, so I usually have no trouble making her laugh. Today, as we played around with an idea I had for the kids' Christmas thank you cards, she brought the funny all by herself!
